Minor Girl Harassed During Morning Run in Nashik: Victim’s Instagram Post Sparks Outrage

A disturbing incident from Maharashtra’s Nashik has once again raised serious concerns about women’s safety in public spaces. A 17-year-old girl alleged that she was sexually harassed while jogging on a public road during her morning run on March 5.

The victim later shared her experience on Instagram, describing the traumatic moment and urging authorities to take immediate action. Her post has since gone viral on social media, triggering widespread anger and demands for stricter safety measures for women.

Incident Took Place During Early Morning Run

According to the girl’s statement, the incident occurred around 8:00 AM near Vidya Vikas Circle in Nashik.

The teenager said she had started her routine run at 6:30 AM and had already completed around 10 kilometers. While beginning her 11th kilometer, a man riding a grey Jupiter scooter suddenly passed by and allegedly touched her inappropriately before speeding away.

The accused reportedly turned near a dosa point located about 50 meters before Vidya Vikas Circle and fled the scene. The victim said the incident happened in broad daylight on a public road close to her residential society.

Victim Cried for Help But No One Stepped Forward

The girl described the moment as shocking and humiliating. She said she immediately began shouting and crying for help after the incident. However, according to her statement, people nearby simply watched without intervening.

“I was yelling and crying for help, but people around me just stood there staring, as if I had done something wrong,” she wrote in her Instagram post.

The teenager expressed deep disappointment over the lack of support from bystanders and said the experience left her feeling helpless and violated.

Instagram Post Goes Viral

The victim decided to speak publicly about the incident to raise awareness and push for action.

In her emotional post, she wrote that no girl should feel unsafe while doing something as simple as going for a morning run. She also urged people to tag Nashik Police and share her story widely so the accused could be identified and punished.

“I am speaking up not only for myself, but for every single girl and woman in Nashik who deserves to feel safe in her own city,” she wrote.

The post quickly gained traction on social media platforms, with many users expressing outrage and demanding strict action against the accused.

Growing Concerns Over Women’s Safety

The incident has once again highlighted the ongoing issue of harassment faced by women and girls in public spaces across India.

Morning jogs, daily commutes, and routine outdoor activities continue to pose safety concerns for many women, despite repeated calls for stronger law enforcement and public awareness. Activists and citizens have often stressed that such incidents require not only strict punishment for offenders but also active intervention from bystanders and community members.

Calls for Swift Police Action

Social media users have urged Nashik Police to investigate the matter quickly, identify the accused rider, and take strict legal action. Many have also demanded increased patrolling in public areas, particularly during early morning hours when many people go for walks and runs. Authorities are yet to release an official statement regarding the case, but the viral post has intensified pressure on local law enforcement to respond.

Why Speaking Up Matters

Experts say incidents like this often go unreported due to fear, stigma, or lack of support. By sharing her story publicly, the teenager has not only sought justice for herself but has also sparked a larger conversation about safety, accountability, and public responsibility.

Her message is clear — women should not have to live in fear while performing everyday activities.
