The spiritual journey to Kedarnath began on a tragic note this year after a pilgrim from Gujarat Dilip Bhai Mali lost his life during the pilgrimage. The incident not only left a family grieving but also sparked questions about how authorities handled the situation at a critical moment.

Dilip Bhai Mali, a devotee who had come to Kedarnath with deep faith and devotion, reportedly suffered a heart attack during the journey. Despite the immediate concern from people around him, he could not be saved. His sudden death turned what was meant to be a sacred pilgrimage into a heartbreaking experience for his family.
His son, Hemant Mali, who was accompanying him on the trip, was left in shock. Soon after doctors confirmed his father’s death, Hemant began requesting help from the local administration to arrange helicopter transport for the body so it could be taken back home to Gujarat.
According to the family, Hemant approached the district authorities and requested urgent assistance. However, officials reportedly told him that the helicopter service could not be arranged immediately because permission from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) was required.
As hours passed, the grieving son continued to plead for help. The body reportedly remained at the helipad for several hours while the family waited for the required clearance.
The situation became even more controversial when reports claimed that the Rudraprayag District Magistrate, Vishal Mishra, left the area in a helicopter during the same time period. This development raised serious questions in the minds of the family and many observers.
If helicopter operations required DGCA approval, people began asking how officials were able to fly while the family of a deceased pilgrim continued to wait for permission.
Sources indicate that the body had arrived at the helipad early in the morning but the helicopter service was arranged only around 12:30 PM. For the grieving family, the delay felt both painful and difficult to understand.
The incident has triggered strong reactions among pilgrims and on social media, where many people have criticized what they see as a lack of sensitivity from the administration. Several voices have questioned whether rules are being applied differently for officials and ordinary citizens.
Every year, thousands of devotees travel to Kedarnath despite the challenging terrain and high altitude. Health emergencies are not uncommon in such conditions, which is why pilgrims often rely heavily on quick medical and evacuation support from authorities.
