According to police sources, the Instagram user, reportedly identified by the handle “shankar11916,” posted a comment reading: “Support maadi bro Ullal Masjid hatra bomb blast madthini,” which translates to, “Support me brother, I will blast bomb near Ullal Masjid.” Screenshots of the message spread rapidly online, creating concern among local residents and drawing the attention of law enforcement.
Following the viral circulation of the post, a complaint was lodged and an FIR was registered at Ullala Police Station under relevant legal provisions related to criminal intimidation and online threats. Investigators have launched efforts to trace the digital identity and location of the accused individual.
City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy confirmed that strict action would be taken against the person responsible for the threatening message. He stated that posting a bomb threat on social media is a criminal offense and assured that the accused would be arrested soon. He emphasized that even online remarks made in a casual or provocative tone can attract serious legal consequences if they threaten public safety or disturb communal harmony.
Police officials clarified that security measures around the mosque have been reviewed as a precaution, although there is no immediate indication of an actual explosive threat at this stage. Authorities are also monitoring social media to prevent the spread of misinformation or panic.
The incident has once again highlighted the risks associated with reckless behavior on digital platforms.
