India-Pakistan Ceasefire Under Strain: — The fragile ceasefire agreement between India and Pakistan came under immediate threat late Saturday night, as Pakistani drones breached Indian airspace just hours after both nations pledged to halt military actions across land, sea, and air.
In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched Operation Sindoor, a swift and coordinated counter-offensive targeting multiple Pakistani air bases and terror hubs. According to top military officials, India successfully neutralized several Pakistani aircraft, drone incursions, and key terror infrastructure, all without suffering significant losses.
Ceasefire Violated Within Hours
At approximately 5:00 PM IST on May 10, India and Pakistan agreed to enforce a mutual ceasefire following a telephonic conversation between the Directors General of Military Operations (DGMO) of both nations. However, by 8:00 PM, Pakistani drones had already violated the terms of the agreement, flying into Indian airspace from Srinagar to Bhuj, prompting immediate retaliatory measures.
Cities near the border experienced sudden blackouts, indicating serious preparedness for escalated conflict.
Operation Sindoor: A Measured Yet Fierce Response
In a joint press briefing by the Army, Navy, and Air Force, top Indian defence officials detailed the scale and impact of Operation Sindoor.
Air Marshal AK Bharti confirmed that Indian forces had “achieved all designated objectives,” and all pilots had returned safely. He also revealed that several Pakistani jets were downed and key air bases including Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sargodha were struck with precision.
“We did not strike to count casualties. Our goal was to neutralize threats,” Bharti said, asserting that India’s response was targeted, swift, and strategically impactful.
Vice Admiral AN Pramod issued a stern warning:
“If Pakistan dares to act again, it knows exactly what we are capable of.”
Pakistan’s Terror Camps Targeted
DGMO Lt. Gen. Rajiv Ghai disclosed that India had identified and destroyed nine major terror hubs across Pakistan, including those in Muridke and Bahawalpur—sites linked to the IC-814 hijacking and the 2019 Pulwama attack.
Over 100 terrorists, including high-value figures like Yusuf Azhar, Abdul Malik Rauf, and Mudasir Ahmed, were eliminated in these operations.
“This was not just military action; it was justice for the 26 lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack on April 22,” said Lt. Gen. Ghai.
Pakistan’s Drone Raids Thwarted
Between May 8 and May 10, Pakistan reportedly launched coordinated drone and aircraft strikes on Indian military installations. The Indian Air Force neutralized all threats targeting bases in Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Bathinda, and others. Despite the scale of the assault, Indian defence installations remained unharmed, thanks to advanced air defence systems and a high state of readiness.
Global Diplomacy and Future Talks
Sources revealed that India’s hard-hitting airstrikes were the turning point that led to renewed dialogue offers from Pakistan. The US played a behind-the-scenes role, with Secretary of State Marco Rubio reportedly urging Pakistan’s Army Chief Asim Munir to de-escalate.
However, India has made it clear: talks will only happen at the DGMO level, and there will be no broader diplomatic engagement unless Pakistan ends its sponsorship of terrorism.
In a significant diplomatic move, India is also preparing to present fresh evidence of Pakistan’s terror links at the UN Security Council next week.
Indus Waters Treaty Suspended
As a further pressure tactic, the Government of India has announced a temporary suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, citing ongoing Pakistani support for cross-border terrorism.
The situation between India and Pakistan remains tense. While the ceasefire agreement still technically stands, its credibility has been seriously undermined. All eyes are now on the scheduled DGMO talks on May 12 at 12:00 PM, which could either stabilize the situation or pave the way for further escalation.
India has demonstrated both restraint and resolve, but as officials warn, any further provocation will be met with even stronger retaliation.
