Unidentified attackers fired gunshots at Punjabi music director Pinky Dhaliwal’s house in Mohali’s Sector 70. No injuries reported. Police investigate possible extortion or rivalry.

Mohali, May 16, 2025: Tension gripped Mohali’s upscale Sector 70 on Thursday evening after unidentified assailants opened fire outside the residence of popular Punjabi music director Pushpinder Pal Singh Dhaliwal, better known as Pinky Dhaliwal. The shocking incident occurred around 7:30 PM, sparking panic in the peaceful locality.
According to police officials, multiple gunshots were fired at the house, but no injuries have been reported. It remains unclear whether Dhaliwal or his family members were present at the time of the attack.
A heavy police force was immediately deployed to the scene, and the area was cordoned off for investigation. Forensic teams have collected evidence, including CCTV footage, shell casings, and eyewitness statements.
Police Probing All Angles
Mohali Police confirmed they are investigating the case from multiple perspectives, including personal rivalry, professional disputes, and possible extortion threats. An FIR has been registered, and teams have been formed to trace the culprits.
Speaking to the media, a senior police officer said, “We are exploring all possible motives behind the attack. Given Mr. Dhaliwal’s public profile and past controversies, nothing is being ruled out at this stage.”
Past Controversies Surrounding Pinky Dhaliwal
This isn’t the first time Pinky Dhaliwal has made headlines. In March 2025, the music director was arrested after popular Punjabi singer Sunanda Sharma accused him of financial fraud and harassment. However, the Punjab and Haryana High Court later deemed the arrest illegal, leading to his release. Reports later suggested that a compromise was reached between both parties.
Fear in the Neighborhood
The gunfire triggered fear among residents of Sector 70, known for its high-end homes and peaceful surroundings.
“This is a very quiet area. Such an incident has left us all scared,” said a resident on condition of anonymity.
Police patrolling has since been increased in the vicinity to ensure safety and restore public confidence.
The gunfire attack on Pinky Dhaliwal’s Mohali residence has once again brought the spotlight on rising insecurity even in affluent neighborhoods. While no harm was done this time, the motive and identity of the shooters remain unknown. Authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing investigation.
