Emergency Box Office Collection Day 7: Kangana Ranaut’s ambitious political drama Emergency has had a slow run at the box office since its release on January 17, 2025. Though she surpassed her previous biopic, Thalaivii, in terms of box office collections, the film is still collecting low.
According to industry tracker Sacnilk.com, Emergency raked in ₹68 lakhs on its seventh day, thus totalling the collections to ₹14.08 crore by Wednesday evening. In the last two days, the film had made ₹1 crore each, a reflection of stagnancy in its performance. While Emergency has bagged more than the overall lifetime collection of Thalaivii that collected ₹7.28 crore, such a pace leaves much to desire for a movie of this proportions.
Box Office Claims
However, Manikarnika Films, Kangana’s production house, denies that. They took to X (formerly Twitter) stating the film has garnered ₹15.52 crore within its first week. They captioned, “7 Days of Unstoppable Love! #Emergency is winning hearts and igniting emotions nationwide. A powerful story that demands to be seen! Be part of the journey—book your tickets now and witness history come alive.”

The Film Journey
Emergency is a film written and directed by and starring Kangana Ranaut. This is during the tumultuous time of the 1975 Emergency she was forced to instate as Prime Minister, of which she portrays in the film. Some other significant roles are played by Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik.
The movie faced significant delays due to censorship issues and encountered state-wide protests in Punjab, leading to limited screenings in cities like Ludhiana, Amritsar, and Jalandhar.
Audience Response and Occupancy
Despite its powerful premise and Kangana’s performance, the film struggled to draw crowds, with an overall Hindi occupancy rate of just 6.22% on its seventh day.
Even though Emergency may have enjoyed slightly better box office numbers than Thalaivii, it has a long way to go to establish as a commercial success. With lukewarm audience response and minimal occupancy, the road ahead for the movie appears to be challenging. However, with its hard-hitting story and renowned cast, Emergency might still connect with a niche audience in the coming weeks.
