Firozabad, Uttar Pradesh: In a sudden turn of events, a public hearing at the Firozabad police headquarters witnessed an altercation between Superintendent of Police (SP) Saurabh Dixit and an ex-army man on Tuesday, December 10. The incident took place around 11:30 a.m. according to reports and raises concerns about the conduct of the district’s top police officer.
The ex-army man, who had come to the hearing to settle a land dispute, presented his complaint to the SP in the presence of SP (Rural) also. However, things took a turn for the worse when SP Saurabh Dixit, known for his abrasive personality, allegedly started talking to the complainant in a raised voice. Things only got worse when the officer allegedly insulted the ex-army man’s parents during the discussion.
Angered by such remarks, the ex-army man confronted SP Saurabh Dixit and asked him why he was dragging his parents in the matter. The SP, allegedly losing his cool, slapped the complainant. The ex-army man retaliated, during which a physical scuffle took place in which he was reportedly pulled to the ground.
The whole incident is recorded on CCTV, but reports indicate that SP Dixit ordered the DVR removed from the place to hide the whole incident. The matter took a more serious turn when it was alleged that the SP had instructed the district’s SOG team to conduct a “half-encounter” on the ex-army man. However, the SOG team is reported to have refused to act upon such orders.
The incident has caused widespread outrage among the local residents, with many questioning the conduct of the senior police officials in public hearings. The alleged behavior of the SP has attracted sharp criticism, with the treatment of citizens, especially those who have served the nation, being raised as a concern.
As the matter gains attention, demands for an impartial investigation into the incident are growing. Citizens are calling for accountability and immediate action to address the misuse of authority. This incident highlights the urgent need for police reform and a review of the mechanisms governing public interactions with law enforcement officials.
