Bhandara, Maharashtra – six person was killed in a devastating blast that struck an ordnance factory in the eastern Maharashtra district of Bhandara on Friday morning. The police said the incident took place around 10:30 a.m. and rescue and first-aid operations began immediately from the scene.

District Collector Sanjay Kolte said that the explosion occurred inside the factory, where the most vital ammunition and equipment of the army are manufactured. The reason for the blast has not been found, and a probe is initiated.

“Rescue and medical teams have been rushed to the spot since the incident occurred. All the workers are safe and the causes behind this mishap are still to be known,” a Defence spokesperson said.

The victims are not named and it has also not been disclosed yet as to how many others have lost their lives due to this mishap.

The Bhandara ordnance factory is a vital establishment under the Ministry of Defence. It produces essential equipment for the armed forces.
