Viral Video Rocks Sitamarhi Election Campaign

The Sitamarhi Assembly election in Bihar has taken a dramatic turn after an alleged obscene video linked to BJP candidate and former MP Sunil Kumar Pintu went viral on social media. The video, circulating rapidly across multiple platforms, has ignited intense political debate, just days before polling.

Though the authenticity of the clip remains unverified, the viral footage has become a focal point of heated exchanges between ruling and opposition camps.

Pintu Calls It a Political Conspiracy

Breaking his silence on the controversy, Sunil Kumar Pintu termed the viral clip a “political conspiracy” orchestrated by his rivals to malign his image ahead of the polls.

“This is not a new video. It surfaced two years ago when I was an MP. My political opponents are reusing it now to tarnish my reputation. The people behind this have already faced legal action — three individuals were arrested earlier for demanding ₹2 crore from me,” Pintu claimed.

He further appealed to the public “not to believe in false propaganda” and assured that truth would prevail once the investigation concludes.

Social Media Divided Over Viral Clips

Social media platforms have been flooded with posts, memes, and heated debates around the alleged video.

Some users have mocked the BJP candidate, while others have accused rival parties of spreading misinformation using AI-generated deepfake videos. A few users alleged that the timing of the leak indicates a deliberate attempt to influence voter perception.

One user wrote sarcastically, “BJP’s Sitamarhi candidate Sunil Kumar Pintu seems to have gone viral even before the election results!”
Another commented, “Opposition parties don’t need to campaign now — this video is doing their job.”

Two Separate Clips Circulating Online

Reports suggest that two separate video clips are being circulated. The first allegedly shows a man in a compromising situation with a woman, while the second purportedly involves a video call showing “indecent behavior.”

However, no official authentication of these clips has been made so far. Cybercrime officials are likely to probe the origin and editing details of the footage.

BJP Defends Its Candidate, Opposition Targets Moral Grounds

BJP leaders have come forward in defense of Pintu, calling the video “fabricated” and “digitally edited” using deepfake technology.

“The timing of this video leak clearly shows a political motive. Opposition parties are resorting to unethical tactics to mislead voters,” a senior BJP functionary said.

In contrast, opposition parties including RJD and Congress have demanded Pintu’s disqualification, questioning BJP’s “moral standards.” RJD spokespersons have labeled the incident “a reflection of BJP’s double standards on morality and culture.”

Deepfakes and Digital Manipulation: Experts Warn of Growing Election Threats

Cyber experts caution that the rise of AI and deepfake technology has made it alarmingly easy to create realistic yet fake videos to target political figures.

“During elections, we see a spike in doctored media designed to damage reputations. Unless verified through forensic analysis, such clips must be treated with skepticism,” said a digital forensics expert.

Political Temperature Soars in Sitamarhi

With both camps trading allegations, the Sitamarhi constituency — already a hotbed of political rivalry — has now turned into the epicenter of a moral and digital debate.

As the Election Commission monitors the situation, the controversy continues to dominate headlines and social media feeds across Bihar.

Whether the viral video will impact voter sentiment or backfire on the opposition remains to be seen. But one thing is certain — the Sitamarhi election has now become as much about image and perception as it is about votes and policy.
