A horrifying case of violence has shaken Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district, where four members of a single family were found brutally murdered inside their home. What initially appeared to be a violent fallout over property money has now turned into a complicated murder mystery, with conflicting statements raising serious questions about what really happened.
The incident took place in the jurisdiction of Rupaidiha Police Station in Bahraich. Police say the violence stemmed from a dispute over property that had recently been sold by the family’s patriarch.
According to investigators, Nirankar Verma is suspected of attacking his father Badlu Ram (60), mother Sanju Devi, sister Parvati (42), and 80-year-old grandmother Sheetla with an axe. All four died on the spot due to severe injuries. The brutality of the attack has stunned local residents, who described the family as generally quiet but aware of occasional disagreements related to land and money.
During the alleged assault, Nirankar’s brother Gurudev reportedly tried to intervene. He was also attacked and suffered critical injuries. Doctors referred him to the Trauma Centre at King George’s Medical University in Lucknow, where he remains in serious condition. His medical status is expected to play a crucial role in the investigation.
Police have arrested Nirankar Verma and are treating him as the prime accused. Officers recovered the suspected murder weapon from the crime scene and have begun forensic analysis. Statements from neighbors, relatives, and other witnesses are being recorded to establish a clear sequence of events.
However, the case took a dramatic turn after another sister, Laxmi, gave a statement that contradicts the police’s initial findings. She claimed that Nirankar was not responsible for the killings. Instead, she alleged that Gurudev carried out the attack and then attempted to take his own life after murdering four family members. Her sensational claim has added a new layer of complexity to the investigation.
Police officials have stated that they are verifying all angles and will not rely solely on initial assumptions. Forensic evidence, injury patterns, and medical reports are being carefully examined. Investigators are also looking into the financial records linked to the recent property sale to understand whether monetary disagreements escalated into deadly violence.
