Ashish Patel’s Social Media Post: A late-night Facebook post by Ashish Patel, Executive President of Apna Dal (S) and a cabinet minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, has set the political corridors abuzz. In his post, Patel issued a veiled threat of resignation while alleging a conspiracy to politically eliminate him through baseless accusations spread by media and social media platforms.

In the post, Patel wrote, “The truth fears no fire. If the Chief Minister deems it necessary, a CBI inquiry can be initiated.” He expressed anguish over what he described as a calculated attempt to malign his image and disrupt his political career.

In a phone conversation, the minister elaborated his distress over the allegations stating, “This is not just an attack on my integrity but an attempt at political assassination.” This post has caused high-profile debates in the political corridors and many are discussing its probable fallouts. The fact that no accusations were mentioned or details given doesn’t dilute the gravity of the demand for a CBI probe by Patel.

Political analysts believe this incident might increase tensions between coalition parties. Meanwhile, leaders in opposition have taken a cue to question the dynamics within the state government and also credibility.

So far, Chief Minister’s Office has not issued any statement to say something about the issue by the minister or accept the proposal for a high-level investigation.
