AP Dhillon Retire: Canadian Punjabi singer-rapper AP Dhillon, known for his chart-topping hits Brown Munde, Excuses, and With You, has hinted at leaving the music industry. The singer, who gained fame through his chart-topping songs, recently expressed his desire to take a break and live a peaceful life away from the limelight.
In a candid conversation on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, AP Dhillon shared that 2024 might mark the end of his musical journey at least temporarily. He reflected on how the music industry has shifted from being an artspace to what he described as a “game.” Speaking on his creative fatigue, he said, “Once all this is over, I want to live a peaceful life. I don’t know if I’ll wake up tomorrow and decide not to make songs anymore. I was telling my friend, next year might be my last year. I might not make music for a while, just because it has become a game more than an artspace.”
When asked about his plans during the hiatus, AP humorously remarked, “I have no idea. Will start a podcast.”
Turning Down Bollywood
In the same interview, AP Dhillon revealed that he has rejected several offers from Bollywood. “I was offered movies, even roles, and records two years ago. I’ve been rejecting them consistently, burning bridges from one opportunity to another. I don’t want to be like the other sheep,” he said. His choice to keep his artistry independent has resonated with his fans, reinforcing his reputation as a non-conformist in the industry.
Feud with Diljit Dosanjh
Adding to the buzz surrounding his possible retirement is AP Dhillon’s ongoing feud with singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh. The controversy began when AP accused Diljit of blocking him on social media and being “fake.” While both artists have refrained from elaborating further, the spat has drawn significant attention from fans and the media alike.
A Journey of Hits
Born as Amritpal Singh Dhillon in Gurdaspur, Punjab, AP Dhillon began his music career in Canada. He gained success with the 2020 anthem Brown Munde, which is a cultural phenomenon. Throughout his years, he has built up a significant following worldwide due to his unique style and chart-topping hits. His latest album, The Brownprint, solidified his position as an international Punjabi music icon.
As AP Dhillon drops hints of a sabbatical, fans keep their breath for what comes next. Whether it’s the end of an era or the beginning of something new, one thing for sure is that AP Dhillon’s impact on the Punjabi music industry will always be unmatched.
