Amul Announces Milk Price Cut: With this, one could say that it would be a much welcome relief to the consumers, for Amul-the leading dairy brand in India-cuts down three of its top-selling milk products by Re 1 per kg. Effective from today, new prices would include Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special milk packets.
Announcing a cut in the price, Jayen Mehta, the Managing Director of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which is in charge of managing the operations for Amul, said, “Amul has cut Re 1 off the price of milk in 1 kg packs of Amul Gold, Amul Taaza, and Amul Tea Special.”
New Prices of Amul Milk Products
- Amul Taaza: ₹53 per kg
- Amul Tea Special: ₹61 per kg
- Amul Gold: ₹65 per kg
After several member unions under GCMMF allegedly brought down the milk procurement prices it pays to dairy farmers, Amul has slashed its milk prices. This is a major change as this is the first cut in Amul’s milk rates since it raised the rates by ₹2 per litre in June 2024.
The reduction is expected to bring much-needed relief to consumers in the face of continuing inflation and household expenses. It also helps Amul maintain its competitive edge in a market where rivalry from other dairy brands has been on the rise.
While the company hasn’t specified any specific reasons for reducing the price, industry experts suggest that this is a step in balancing rising demand with increased competition in the dairy sector. In addition, it follows Amul’s strategy of building its position in the market and addressing consumer needs.
The announcement comes at a time when the dairy industry is experiencing fluctuating procurement rates and an overall increase in operational costs. Amul’s decision is being seen as a strategic step to reassure consumers of affordability without compromising on quality.
The price fall also coincides with a more general market trend whereby brands are seeking how to stabilize costs and attract more consumers in an economic environment marked by rising prices of essentials.
With its great supply chain, and loyal consumer base, Amul continues to emerge as one of the most dependable dairy brands for India. Yet another price drop reflects its continuous efforts to quality products at best prices, proving itself to remain the “Taste of India”.
