Varanasi Police have arrested two notorious criminals involved in a series of robberies, thefts, and cases of molestation. Among the arrested is Amit Pathak (45), the personal assistant to Ajay Rai, the State President of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, along with his accomplice.

The police have registered a case against the accused under FIR number 102/2025. The charges include extortion (Section 384), night burglary (Section 457), robbery (Section 392), insult (Section 504), criminal intimidation (Section 506), and molestation of a woman (Section 354) under the Indian Penal Code.
The arrests highlight a significant development given the political connection, raising concerns over the involvement of close associates of prominent political leaders in criminal activities. The Varanasi police are currently investigating the matter thoroughly and are expected to reveal further details soon.
