Bengaluru, Jan 6 : Amit Banerji, Founder and CEO, Table Space Co-working space Provider in India who passed away this morning at age 44 by a heart attack. The news about his sudden demise has sent a shock wave within the corporate as well as the startup communities.
Table Space, which Banerji founded in September 2017, became an overnight sensation in the flexible workspace industry. Under his leadership, the Bengaluru-based company became a name that businesses would trust to offer innovative co-working solutions. The company, in an official statement, expressed its grief, saying Banerji was a visionary leader whose efforts transformed the industry.
Prior to establishing Table Space, Banerji had a long and successful career with Accenture, serving for more than 13 years as Managing Director of Corporate Real Estate. In that role, he managed strategy, planning, acquisitions, and operations for a massive real estate portfolio across India, demonstrating the depth of his expertise and leadership in the field.

Banerji graduated in B.Tech Computer Science from Punjab Technical University. He also studied at Gyan Bharati School. The people found Banerji highly innovative and hard working and someone who inspires.
Financially, Banerji is a key shareholder in Table Space, with 21.55% equity ownership in the firm as of the last funding round in August 2024. His equity is estimated at ₹866.8 crore, while the additional ₹90 crore came in from his other holdings. Valuation for Table Space stood at ₹3,162.1 crore, a true testament to how the company was doing under him.
Banerji’s passing follows the recent deaths of other prominent startup leaders, including Rohan Malhotra, co-founder of Good Capital, and Rohan Mirchandani, co-founder of Epigamia, both of whom also succumbed to heart attacks.
The loss of Amit Banerji is a very unfortunate incident for the Indian startup ecosystem. He has built something special in the corporate real estate and co-working sector, that will leave strong imprints in his lifetime achievements, and inspire future entrepreneurs and innovators.
