The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has arrested Javad Ahmad Siddiqui, chairman of Faridabad-based Al Falah University, in connection with alleged forgery and irregularities related to the functioning of the private institution. The arrest comes after two FIRs were registered following a complaint filed by the University Grants Commission (UGC), officials said on Wednesday.

According to police sources, the cases were registered after the UGC raised serious concerns over alleged violations, including forgery and misrepresentation of official records. The complaints pointed to irregular practices in the administration and regulatory compliance of the university, prompting a criminal investigation by the Crime Branch.
The matter had earlier come under scrutiny after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) initiated proceedings, indicating a possible financial angle linked to the alleged violations. Officials said the ED’s findings strengthened the case and led to coordinated action by investigative agencies.
The probe gained momentum following a blast incident near the Red Fort, during which multiple leads were examined by security and investigative agencies. During this process, alleged discrepancies connected to Al Falah University surfaced, ultimately resulting in formal action based on the UGC’s complaint.
Siddiqui was produced before a local court in Delhi, which granted four days of police custody to allow investigators to question him further. During the custodial interrogation, police are expected to examine key documents, financial records, and institutional approvals related to the university’s operations.
Authorities said the investigation is ongoing and additional developments are expected as more evidence is analyzed. As of now, Al Falah University has not issued any official statement regarding the arrest or the allegations. Officials indicated that further details will emerge as the probe progresses.
