The grandeur of Rashtrapati Bhavan witnessed several unforgettable moments on Monday as President Droupadi Murmu presented the prestigious Padma Awards to personalities who have made remarkable contributions to the country.

Among the biggest highlights of the ceremony was veteran Bollywood star Dharmendra being honoured with the Padma Vibhushan. The emotional moment became even more special when his wife, actor and MP Hema Malini, stepped forward to receive the honour on his behalf.

As Hema Malini accepted the award with folded hands, the audience responded with warm applause. The moment reflected not just Dharmendra’s legendary journey in Indian cinema, but also the deep admiration people continue to hold for the actor after decades in the industry.

The ceremony also brought pride to Indian sports as India women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur was conferred the Padma Shri. Known for her fearless batting and inspiring leadership, Harmanpreet has played a major role in taking women’s cricket in India to new heights.

Her recognition at the national level was celebrated widely by cricket fans and fellow athletes, many of whom praised her dedication and impact on the game.

Apart from them, renowned violinist N Rajam received the Padma Vibhushan for her contribution to Indian classical music. Former Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari and banker Uday Kotak were honoured with the Padma Bhushan.
