Twisha Sharma Funeral: Emotional Farewell in Bhopal Amid Ongoing Investigation

The mysterious death of 31-year-old model and actress Twisha Sharma has taken a dramatic turn after her final rites were performed in Bhopal following a second postmortem examination ordered amid growing public pressure and legal scrutiny. The emotional scenes at the cremation ground reflected the pain and unanswered questions surrounding the young actress’s death, which has now become a matter of national attention.

Twisha Sharma Funeral: Emotional Farewell in Bhopal Amid Ongoing Investigation

Twisha Sharma, who moved to Bhopal after her marriage in December, was found hanging at her in-laws’ residence in the Katara Hills area on May 12. Since then, the case has sparked outrage on social media and triggered serious allegations from her family, who claim she was subjected to dowry harassment and mental torture inside her matrimonial home.

On Sunday, a second postmortem was conducted at All India Institute of Medical Sciences Bhopal under heavy police security. The examination reportedly lasted for nearly three hours and was carried out in the presence of a medical team that arrived from Delhi AIIMS. Authorities hope the fresh forensic findings will help clear doubts surrounding the circumstances of her death.

After the postmortem, Twisha’s body was handed over to her family. Dressed in a red bridal outfit, her mortal remains were taken to Bhadbhada Vishram Ghat for cremation. Family members broke down during the final journey, while several former army personnel and local residents also gathered to pay their respects. Her brother, Major Harshit Sharma, performed the last rites and lit the funeral pyre in an emotionally charged atmosphere.

The case has now reached the Supreme Court of India, which has taken suo motu cognizance of the matter. A special bench headed by Chief Justice Surya Kant is scheduled to hear the case on May 25. The Supreme Court reportedly observed that the matter involves the unnatural death of a young woman inside her matrimonial home and pointed toward possible procedural irregularities during the initial investigation.

These remarks have intensified pressure on investigating agencies and local authorities. Questions are being raised over the early handling of evidence and whether the case was treated with the seriousness it deserved from the beginning.

Twisha’s husband Samarth Singh, who had reportedly been missing for nearly ten days after the incident, surrendered before a court in Jabalpur on Friday. He was later brought to Bhopal by police and sent to seven days of police remand for questioning. Meanwhile, his mother Giribala Singh has not yet appeared before investigators despite repeated notices.

The victim’s family continues to demand an independent investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation, saying they no longer trust the local probe. Twisha’s brother Major Harshit Sharma has publicly appealed for justice and called for a transparent investigation into the circumstances leading to his sister’s death.

The Madhya Pradesh government has already recommended a CBI inquiry, but the final approval is still awaited. As the nation watches closely, all eyes are now on the second postmortem report and the upcoming Supreme Court hearing, which could prove crucial in uncovering the truth behind the tragic death of Twisha Sharma.
