Fire Breaks Out in AC Coach of Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express in Ratlam, Passengers Safely Evacuated

Early Sunday morning brought a brief moment of panic for passengers traveling on the prestigious Thiruvananthapuram–Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express when a fire broke out in one of its air-conditioned coaches while the train was passing through Ratlam district. Fortunately, the situation was brought under control quickly, and all passengers were evacuated safely without any injuries.

According to railway officials, the incident occurred around 5:15 a.m. when the train was running between Luni Richha railway station and Vikramgarh Alot railway station. The fire reportedly started near the SLR end of the B-1 AC coach. Railway staff on board immediately alerted authorities and initiated emergency safety procedures to prevent the fire from spreading.

Officials from Indian Railways acted swiftly after receiving the alert. The overhead electric power supply in the section was immediately switched off as a precautionary step. The affected coach was detached from the train to isolate the fire, while railway personnel and emergency teams rushed to the spot to carry out firefighting operations.

Passengers traveling in the B-1 coach were safely deboarded and guided away from the affected area. Railway staff also provided refreshments and assistance to the passengers while the situation was being handled. Thanks to the quick response and coordination by railway officials, the fire was contained before it could cause serious damage.

Due to the temporary disruption on the route, Train No. 12955 Mumbai Central–Jaipur Superfast Express was briefly halted at Mahidpur Road railway station. Railway authorities assured passengers that normal operations would be restored soon once safety checks were completed.

To ensure that passengers could continue their journey comfortably, officials announced that an additional coach would be attached to the train at Kota railway station. After necessary inspections and safety clearance, the Rajdhani Express resumed its journey from the incident site at around 9:48 a.m., moving toward Vikramgarh Alot station with a diesel locomotive.

Railway authorities have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the fire. Officials said technical teams will examine the affected coach and other components to understand how the blaze started.

The quick action by railway staff and emergency teams ensured that what could have been a serious incident turned into a controlled situation. With no injuries reported, passengers expressed relief and praised the prompt response of railway authorities.
