In a fresh development in the controversial viral MMS case from Chhattisgarh, Congress MLA Devendra Yadav has submitted his photo and video samples to the police as part of the ongoing investigation. The move comes as authorities attempt to verify the authenticity of a video clip that has circulated widely on social media since the 2023 assembly elections.

Police officials confirmed that the samples were submitted at Bhilai Nagar Police Station and have been preserved for forensic examination. Investigators will compare the samples with the viral footage to determine whether the person appearing in the clip is indeed the MLA or someone else.
The controversy first surfaced during the 2023 Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly election when an explicit video began circulating online. Several political opponents, particularly leaders linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleged that the individual in the video was Devendra Yadav. The allegations quickly became a political issue during the election campaign, prompting the registration of a complaint and the launch of an investigation.
Devendra Yadav, however, has consistently rejected the claims. He maintains that the video is fabricated and was circulated deliberately to damage his political image during a sensitive electoral period. According to the MLA, the controversy was part of a broader attempt to malign him in the public eye.
Speaking to reporters before visiting the police station, Yadav expressed frustration over the delay in the investigation. He pointed out that the FIR in the case had been registered nearly three years ago, yet no conclusive findings have been presented so far. He also questioned certain procedural aspects of the inquiry.
The MLA said he had received a notice from the police asking him to appear at the station at 11 a.m. on a specific date, but the notice itself was delivered later that afternoon. According to him, this made it practically impossible to comply with the timing mentioned in the notice. He raised concerns about such lapses and urged authorities to handle the matter more transparently.
Despite these concerns, Yadav said he has always cooperated with investigators and is willing to provide any information or material required to reach the truth. By submitting his video and photo samples, he hopes the forensic analysis will finally put an end to speculation surrounding the case.
When the video first went viral, the MLA had reacted emotionally during a media interaction. He revealed that the clip had actually reached him months before it became public and that he had already approached the police with a complaint at that time. He also shared a forensic analysis report which, according to him, suggested that the person appearing in the video was not him.
Yadav accused his political rivals of orchestrating a smear campaign using manipulated content. The incident, he said, caused significant personal and political distress for him and his family.
Sources familiar with the investigation had earlier indicated that the video was initially circulated from Hyderabad, raising further questions about how the clip was produced and spread across social media platforms.
With the MLA now providing fresh samples, investigators are expected to carry out a detailed forensic comparison in the coming weeks. The findings could play a decisive role in resolving the controversy that has lingered since the 2023 election period.
For now, police officials have not given a clear timeline for when the forensic analysis will be completed. However, the latest development suggests that the investigation has entered a crucial phase and may finally move toward a definitive conclusion.
