According to BJP’s state media cell head Vineet Joshi, the explosion was heard around 5 PM and thick smoke was seen in the vicinity immediately after the blast. People in the area rushed out of nearby buildings as panic spread following the loud sound. Joshi said that a scooter and a car parked outside the building were damaged in the explosion, raising serious concerns about security near the party office.

Soon after the incident, teams from the Chandigarh Police and the Central Forensic Science Laboratory reached the spot and cordoned off the area to begin an investigation. Senior police officials quickly arrived to assess the situation and collect evidence from the scene. Authorities also began examining nearby CCTV footage to determine how the blast occurred and who might be responsible.

Senior Superintendent of Police Kanwardip Kaur said the police received information about the explosion at around 5 PM and immediately dispatched teams to the location. Preliminary observations suggest that a small crude explosive device may have been used in the incident. She confirmed that multiple investigative teams, including forensic experts and crime branch officials, are working together to examine the site and gather technical evidence.

The incident has drawn attention from national agencies as well. Officials from the National Investigation Agency are also involved in reviewing the situation as investigators try to determine whether the blast was an isolated act or part of a larger security concern. Forensic experts are analyzing debris and other materials collected from the location to identify the nature of the explosive used.

Reacting to the incident, Union Minister SP Singh Baghel described the blast as unfortunate and stressed that violence has no place in a democracy. He said that even though the explosion appeared to be of low intensity, the authorities are taking the matter seriously and assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible once the investigation is complete.

BJP leaders also expressed concern over the incident, noting that the party’s state working president had been staying at the office for the past few days. They said that an explosion occurring near the party office under such circumstances raises questions about security arrangements and requires thorough investigation.

Meanwhile, security has been tightened around sensitive locations across Chandigarh as a precautionary measure. Police have sealed the immediate area around the party office and are continuing their investigation. Officials say more information will emerge once forensic analysis and evidence examination are completed.
