The victims were returning home for Holi when their journey turned tragic. According to police officials, the pickup was moving at high speed when the driver suddenly lost control of the vehicle. A disturbing video of the incident has surfaced online, showing the pickup swerving uncontrollably before its front wheels climbed onto the divider. Within seconds, the vehicle smashed into the concrete wall, tearing apart under the impact.

The driver, Ashok Kumar (30), a resident of Satku Kheda village under Achalganj police station limits in Unnao, was crushed between the steering wheel and the engine. He died on the spot due to severe injuries. Seated just behind him was three-year-old Khushi, who was rushed to the Community Health Centre (CHC) in Bangarmau but was declared dead on arrival.

Police said three men standing at the rear of the pickup were thrown nearly six feet into the air when the collision occurred. They landed up to 15 feet ahead of the vehicle. One man fell close to the rear tyre after the body of the pickup split apart, while two others landed around 10 feet ahead and were seen writhing in pain in the viral footage.

The vehicle was carrying Monu, a resident of Arsem village in the Auras police station area of Unnao, along with his family members — Shivmurti (32), Munshilal (40), Mehak (8), and Shiksha (3). They were travelling back to Unnao from Faridabad to celebrate Holi when the accident happened.

Upon receiving information, the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) team reached the accident site with a crane and ambulance. Rescue workers worked swiftly to pull the injured out of the mangled vehicle. All victims were taken to the CHC in Bangarmau, where doctors declared Ashok Kumar and the minor girl dead. The four injured were later referred to the district hospital for advanced treatment.

Police have initiated an investigation into the accident. Preliminary findings suggest overspeeding may have caused the driver to lose control. The incident once again highlights the dangers of high-speed driving on expressways, particularly during festive seasons when traffic increases significantly.

The tragedy has left the family shattered just days before Holi, turning what should have been a celebration into a period of mourning.
