Andhra Pradesh Budget 2026-27: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav presented the state’s budget for the financial year 2026-27 on Saturday, February 14. With a total outlay of ₹3.32 lakh crore, the budget aims to propel Andhra Pradesh toward its ambitious ‘Vision Swarna Andhra 2047’, focusing on human development, infrastructure, and economic growth. Revenue expenditure is projected at ₹2.56 lakh crore while capital expenditure is nearly ₹54,000 crore, reflecting a strong balance between social welfare and developmental projects.

Education has received a significant boost, with ₹32,308 crore allocated for school education. Of this, ₹1,500 crore is earmarked for upgrading public school infrastructure, while ₹300 crore will equip hostels and residential schools with modern facilities. Higher education receives ₹2,567 crore, and skill development and training programs are allocated ₹1,232 crore, aiming to prepare a skilled workforce aligned with future economic demands.

For the first time, employee welfare has been highlighted prominently. The budget introduces seamless, paperless processes for GPF, pensions, and promotions, and ₹1,100 crore has been released to settle pending DA and DR arrears. Childcare leave for women has been extended by removing age restrictions for children, making workplaces more inclusive. Women empowerment initiatives continue with 33% reservation in jobs and educational institutions, and the One Family–One Entrepreneur program aims to foster 1 lakh women entrepreneurs within a year.

Agriculture and allied sectors are set to receive ₹13,598 crore, with the Annadatha Sukhibhava–PM Kisan scheme offering ₹20,000 per farmer family, benefiting 46.86 lakh families. The Pasu Bima Padhakam will strengthen livestock health with ₹20 crore allocated for new veterinary infrastructure, while Matsyakara Sevalo relief for fishermen has been doubled to ₹20,000, benefitting 1.2 lakh families. The Price Stabilisation Fund receives ₹500 crore to provide timely assistance to farmers, supplementing ₹7,500 crore sanctioned between 2019–24. Rural development is also prioritized, with ₹22,942 crore allocated for Panchayati Raj and other initiatives.

Healthcare receives ₹19,306 crore to improve public health services, and ₹18,224 crore is dedicated to sustainable water management. Infrastructure development is a major focus, with nearly ₹28,000 crore earmarked for high-impact projects in manufacturing, services, urbanization, and metro rail under the Economic Master Plan for the Visakhapatnam Economic Region. The government is transforming Rayalaseema into a Global Horticulture Hub, expanding horticulture from 8.41 lakh hectares to 14.41 lakh hectares by 2030, creating over 9 lakh direct jobs, and strengthening value chains through global best practices.

Social welfare measures include honorarium support for minorities, full tuition fee reimbursement for backward class students, maintenance allowances, and targeted reservation and subsidies for specific communities. Anganwadi centers are being upgraded, with 9,958 centers enhanced, 4,687 mini Anganwadis upgraded to main centers, and new centers established in PVTG areas. Gratuity is also being provided for Anganwadi workers, helpers, and ASHA workers who play a vital role in child and community welfare.

Other key allocations include ₹3,797 crore in Finance Commission grants to strengthen panchayats and municipalities, ₹439 crore for youth, sports, tourism, and culture, and ₹13,934 crore for energy. The Food & Civil Supplies Department has been allocated ₹3,821 crore to ensure food security, while Deepam 2.0 provides three free LPG cylinders per year, with ₹2,897 crore already credited to beneficiaries’ accounts. An AP Wealth Fund with a seed corpus of ₹100 crore has also been proposed to further enhance state resources.

The Andhra Pradesh Budget 2026-27 combines welfare with growth, aiming to create a prosperous, inclusive, and future-ready state. With major investments in education, healthcare, agriculture, women empowerment, and infrastructure, the government is laying a strong foundation for sustainable development and improved quality of life for all citizens.
