Bengaluru witnessed a terrifying case of road rage on Wednesday when a 52-year-old driver allegedly drove recklessly with a man clinging to the bonnet of his car. The incident occurred around 12:45 PM on Old Airport Road, creating panic among commuters and sparking widespread outrage.
The accused, Suresh, a resident of Pulakeshi Nagar, reportedly got into a minor accident with Nanjunda, a goods vehicle driver. Their argument quickly escalated, leading Nanjunda to climb onto the bonnet of Suresh’s SUV (KA-03-NN-4501), refusing to let go. Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with the man shouting and clinging desperately as the vehicle sped away. Suresh’s wife was reportedly inside the car during the incident.
A dashcam from another vehicle captured the shocking moment, and the footage soon went viral on social media. The video showed Suresh driving at high speed while Nanjunda clung to the car, putting his life at risk as well as endangering other commuters.
Halasuru Police acted swiftly, arresting Suresh within hours of the incident. During verification, authorities discovered that he was a repeat offender with a history of rash driving and violations of the Motor Vehicles Act. A senior police officer confirmed that such behavior posed serious risks and emphasized the need for stricter enforcement against road rage and reckless driving.
