Canadian Woman Alleges Indecent Behaviour by Therapist at Bengaluru Hotel Spa, Police Begin Investigation

A Canadian woman has filed a police complaint in Bengaluru alleging indecent behaviour by a therapist during a spa session at a well-known hotel, prompting authorities to initiate a formal investigation into the incident.

According to police officials, the complaint was registered after the woman reported inappropriate conduct during a massage session. Based on her statement, the Vidhan Soudha Police have begun verifying the facts and collecting evidence to determine whether any legal action is warranted.

In her complaint, the woman alleged that the therapist opened the treatment room door while she was changing clothes and in a semi-naked state, leaving her shocked and deeply uncomfortable. She described the incident as a violation of her privacy during what was supposed to be a professional and secure spa experience.

The woman stated that she immediately reported the matter to the hotel management. However, she alleged that her complaint was not taken seriously. Instead, the hotel authorities reportedly refunded ₹7,000 of the ₹10,000 she had paid for the spa service and advised her not to pursue the issue further.

Feeling that the matter was being dismissed, the woman approached the Bengaluru Police and filed a formal complaint. She claimed that the refund appeared to be an attempt to discourage her from taking legal action rather than addressing the alleged misconduct.

The hotel management has denied the allegations, claiming that the complaint was motivated by an attempt to extort money. However, police officials have clarified that all claims and counterclaims will be assessed only after a thorough examination of the evidence.

Police said they are currently recording statements from all concerned parties, including the complainant, spa staff, and hotel management. Investigators are also reviewing CCTV footage and internal records to establish the sequence of events and verify the allegations.

According to police sources, the woman had travelled to Bengaluru to attend a music event. Following the incident and after lodging the complaint, she reportedly cancelled her programme and left the city.

Authorities have assured that a detailed and impartial investigation will be conducted in accordance with the law. Officials said further action will be taken based on the outcome of the inquiry, emphasizing that guest safety and professional conduct in hospitality establishments remain a priority.
