Bengaluru Power Cut Today: Bengaluru residents are likely to face a scheduled power outage on Sunday, February 8, as the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) has announced a temporary shutdown to carry out emergency maintenance work. The power cut will affect several rural and industrial pockets of the city, and residents have been advised to plan their day in advance to avoid inconvenience.

According to BESCOM, the power interruption will last for six hours, beginning at 10:00 am and continuing until 4:00 pm. The maintenance work has been deliberately scheduled during daylight hours to ensure the safety of technical staff and to enable smooth execution of repair and upgrade activities on the power infrastructure.
The outage is expected to impact all KV lines emanating from multiple substations and receiving centres. These include Nittur, Gubbi, Bidar, G Hosahalli, Doddaguni, Kadaba, Kallur, KG Temple, Ungra, Somalapur, TMTP, the Vasanthanarasapura Receiving Centre, and the Tumkur sub-station. Power supply linked to the South-Western Railway Lines, particularly traction services, will also be affected during the shutdown period.
BESCOM clarified that the power cut will largely impact rural and industrial areas and remains subject to supplements, meaning the duration or affected locations could change depending on operational requirements or technical conditions on the ground. The electricity utility emphasized that such scheduled outages are necessary to prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure stable power supply in the future.
The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited is responsible for electricity distribution across eight districts of Karnataka, including Bangalore Urban, Bangalore Rural, Chikkaballapura, Kolar, Davanagere, Tumkur, Chitradurga, and Ramanagara. The utility covers an area of more than 41,000 square kilometres and serves a population exceeding 20 million consumers.
Residents in the affected areas are advised to charge essential electronic devices, plan household and office work accordingly, and avoid dependence on electrical appliances during the outage hours. BESCOM has assured that power supply will be restored as soon as the maintenance work is completed, provided there are no unforeseen technical or weather-related disruptions.
