Chandigarh took another step towards smart urban mobility on Monday with the launch of the ‘MC One Pass’ parking system, a digital initiative aimed at offering residents a seamless, cashless, and affordable parking experience across the city. The project was formally inaugurated by Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla at the Municipal Corporation parking site in Sector 22, in collaboration with Bank of Baroda.

The initiative is designed to modernise Chandigarh’s parking ecosystem by reducing cash transactions, improving transparency, and making parking more convenient for daily commuters. Under the scheme, citizens can avail monthly parking passes at highly affordable rates of ₹250 for two-wheelers and ₹500 for four-wheelers, providing significant financial relief to regular vehicle users.
Addressing the gathering at the launch, Mayor Harpreet Kaur Babla said the ‘MC One Pass’ system reflects the city administration’s commitment to citizen-centric governance and digital transformation. She noted that the move would not only simplify parking procedures but also ensure better accountability and ease of access for residents and visitors alike.
Municipal Corporation Commissioner Amit Kumar highlighted that the scheme also covers commercial four-wheelers with yellow number plates, making it an inclusive initiative for a wider segment of vehicle owners. He described the system as a progressive reform that would minimise manual intervention, streamline operations, and bring greater efficiency to parking management across Chandigarh.
The monthly pass will be valid across all MC-managed parking locations in the city, including the surface parking opposite Elante Mall, parking sites in Sectors 17, 22, and 35, lake parking, the multi-level parking facility in Sector 17, and other designated Municipal Corporation parking areas. This citywide validity allows commuters to use a single pass at multiple locations without restrictions.
Citizens can generate their monthly parking pass through a fully digital process by scanning a QR code available on the Municipal Corporation and Bank of Baroda websites, at parking sites, and through newspaper publications. The system eliminates the need for physical visits to any office, further strengthening Chandigarh’s push towards paperless public services.
The launch event was attended by MC Special Commissioner Pardeep Kumar, Joint Commissioner Dr Inder Jeet, Area Councillor Damanpreet Singh, and other councillors. Representatives from trade bodies and market associations, including Parveen Duggal, president of the Sector 22D Market Welfare Association, Sanjiv Chadha, president of Chandigarh Beopar Mandal, and Rajesh Kumar Sharma, Deputy General Manager of Bank of Baroda, were also present along with traders and local residents.
With the introduction of ‘MC One Pass’, Chandigarh continues to reinforce its position as a forward-looking city focused on digital governance, efficient urban infrastructure, and improved quality of life for its citizens.
