The arrest has drawn public attention due to Anjali Arora’s strong social media presence and the strict security measures in place across the state.
Arrest During Republic Day Security Checks
The incident took place on Sunday at the Kashi Toll Plaza on the Meerut–Delhi Expressway, which falls under the Partapur police station area. Police officials were conducting intensive vehicle checks as part of Republic Day security arrangements.
During the operation, officers stopped a Scorpio SUV traveling from Delhi towards Meerut. The vehicle displayed a pass claiming association with a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA), which immediately raised suspicion among the checking team.
Fake Pass Detected During Verification
Upon verification, the MLA pass affixed to the vehicle was found to be fake. Following this, the driver was identified as Akash Sansanwal, a resident of Katwaria Sarai, Delhi.
The checking operation was being supervised by Circle Officer Brahmpuri, Saumya Asthana, under whose leadership the police took swift action. Akash was taken into custody on the spot and later sent to the police station for further legal proceedings.
Police Statement and Legal Action
Police officials confirmed that using fake government or representative passes will not be tolerated, especially during national events with elevated security risks. Akash Sansanwal is expected to be produced before the court on Monday.
Authorities also emphasized that strict action will continue against individuals attempting to misuse fake VIP, MLA, or MP passes to bypass security checks.
More Vehicles Booked in Similar Cases
The crackdown did not stop with a single arrest. Police registered cases against four other vehicle owners found using fake MLA or MP passes. Their vehicles were seized.
Additionally, action was taken against 16 vehicle drivers for violations such as black-tinted windows and other traffic rule breaches.
