A Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the disappearance of 328 sacred saroops of Sri Guru Granth Sahib carried out coordinated searches at around 15 locations across Punjab and Chandigarh on Friday. The operation marks one of the most significant moves in the long-running and sensitive investigation.
The searches were conducted at residences and offices linked to 16 individuals who are accused in the case. Officials said the action was taken based on fresh inputs and material collected during the course of the investigation.
Searches Conducted Across Multiple Districts
The SIT teams simultaneously raided locations in Chandigarh, Amritsar, Gurdaspur, and Ropar, indicating the wide network that investigators are currently examining.
Sources familiar with the operation revealed that important documents, digital devices, and records were scrutinized during the searches. These materials are expected to help investigators establish how the sacred scriptures went missing and who was responsible.
Police Commissioner Confirms Action
Amritsar Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, who is supervising the SIT’s work, confirmed the searches and said the investigation is being handled strictly as per legal procedures.
He stated that the SIT is moving forward based on evidence and merit, and no shortcuts are being taken.
“Every piece of available evidence related to the missing saroops will be brought on record. The investigation will be taken to its logical conclusion,” Bhullar said.
No One Will Be Spared, Says Police
The Police Commissioner also made it clear that status or influence will not shield anyone from the law.
“Anyone found guilty, regardless of their position, will face legal action,” he asserted.
His statement sends a strong signal that authorities are determined to bring accountability in a case that has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of the Sikh community.
