Six Students and Warden Arrested
In a shocking case from Bengaluru, police have taken six senior students and a hostel warden into custody after a 15-year-old boy alleged sustained harassment and abuse inside the school hostel. The incident occurred at an international school located on the city’s outskirts under the jurisdiction of Bannerghatta Police.
According to investigators, the abuse went on for four consecutive days in early September. The victim claimed that on September 3, the accused students forcibly stripped him and ordered him to dance naked. When he resisted, they allegedly beat him with a steel hanger.
Four Days of Abuse Alleged
The ordeal did not end there. The boy told police that the harassment continued on subsequent nights despite his pleas to be left alone. On September 5 and 6, the accused students allegedly poured hot and cold water on him as part of their ragging.
The victim said he first reported the matter to the hostel warden. However, instead of acting against the accused, the warden reportedly dismissed his complaint as a minor issue. Left helpless, the boy later informed his parents, who immediately filed a police complaint.
Police Action and Legal Provisions
Police launched an investigation and arrested all six senior students along with the warden for negligence and failure to protect the victim.
Authorities confirmed that the case has been registered under sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), the Juvenile Justice Act, and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012. The charges include sexual harassment, criminal intimidation, and physical assault.
Investigators also questioned the school principal to gather further details on how such incidents were allowed to occur inside a supervised hostel.

This incident comes just weeks after another tragic case in Karnataka. In July, a 22-year-old architecture student from Hassan district died by suicide after allegedly enduring online abuse and harassment at Bengaluru’s Reva University. The case sparked outrage over rising concerns of ragging and cyberbullying among students.
