Govt’s 100-Day Mission to Fast-Track Growth: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi, 18 Aug 2025 – The Union government has launched an ambitious 100-day mission to accelerate India’s path towards becoming a developed nation, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal announced on Monday.

Govt’s 100-Day Mission to Fast-Track Growth: Piyush Goyal

Speaking virtually at the Lokmat Global Economic Convention in London, Goyal said that “no power can stop India from becoming a developed nation”, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day call to step up efforts in nation-building.

Strengthening Supply Chains and Global Partnerships

Goyal highlighted that the mission is designed to strengthen supply chains, expand international trade partnerships, and empower small businesses and farmers. He underlined that India’s self-reliance and “Make in India” campaigns have already boosted global confidence in the country’s economic trajectory.

“Experts across the world now recognize India as one of the most attractive consumer markets and top investment destinations,” he said, noting that resilience in manufacturing and trade has been key to this transformation.

Modi’s Vision: Self-Reliance and Innovation

Reaffirming the Prime Minister’s vision, Goyal referred to Modi’s five pledges from the 2022 Independence Day address, which included removing traces of colonial mindset, strengthening cultural pride, and building indigenous capabilities.

In his recent Independence Day speech, Modi stressed on self-reliance in technology and defence, urging researchers to develop jet engines domestically and announcing that India will roll out Made-in-India semiconductor chips by the end of 2025.

“These steps,” Goyal said, “prove that India’s national security and economic strength cannot be dependent on foreign powers.”

Boosting Businesses and Reducing Barriers

The minister also spoke about ongoing regulatory reforms to make life easier for businesses—cutting compliance burdens, removing outdated rules, and encouraging bold investments. “Ease of doing business,” he added, “is directly linked to the quality of life of every citizen.”

Expanding Trade Horizons

Goyal pointed to India’s success in concluding fair and balanced trade agreements with countries including the UAE, Mauritius, the UK, and the four-nation EFTA bloc (Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland). More trade negotiations, he said, are progressing rapidly.

These efforts are opening new doors for small businesses, farmers, and the animal husbandry sector, while ensuring India’s dairy industry remains protected. “We are not just exporting goods,” Goyal explained, “we are exporting the confidence of India’s growth story.”

Vocal for Local

Reiterating the importance of grassroots entrepreneurship, Goyal urged citizens to be “vocal for local”, emphasizing that self-reliance forms the foundation of India’s journey to becoming a developed nation.
