Bihar : 26-Year-Old Allegedly Gang-Raped in Ambulance After Fainting During Exam

A horrifying incident in Bihar has left the entire nation in shock. A 26-year-old woman, who fainted during a Home Guard recruitment test, was allegedly gang-raped inside a moving ambulance while being transported to a hospital. The disturbing crime occurred on July 24 during a recruitment drive at the Bihar Military Police Grounds in Bodh Gaya.

26-Year-Old Allegedly Gang-Raped in Ambulance

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the woman lost consciousness due to exhaustion and was rushed to a hospital in an ambulance. However, during the journey, the ambulance driver and an onboard technician allegedly took advantage of the situation and sexually assaulted her.

Two Accused Arrested, Investigation Underway

Bihar Police have swiftly arrested two suspects – the ambulance driver and the technician. The authorities confirmed that CCTV footage supports the woman’s timeline and confirms the route taken by the ambulance.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) and a forensic unit have been assigned to the case to ensure a thorough probe. Police are treating this case as a priority due to the sensitive nature and shocking context in which it occurred.

Chirag Paswan Condemns Nitish Kumar’s Government Over Failing Law and Order

The incident has sparked political outrage. Chirag Paswan, President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and an ally of the BJP-led NDA, expressed regret over supporting the Nitish Kumar-led Bihar government.

Speaking to the media before heading to Gayaji, where he plans to hold a public rally, Paswan said:

“The situation has become scary. I regret supporting a regime that is clearly incapable of maintaining law and order.”

He continued, “There are daily reports of murders, kidnappings, dacoities, and rapes. Law and order have collapsed in Bihar. The administration seems both incompetent and, in some cases, complicit.”

Rising Crime Ahead of Elections Sparks Concerns

Paswan also linked the recent surge in violent crimes to the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, suggesting that certain elements may be attempting to destabilize the state to discredit the ruling government. Still, he emphasized that ensuring public safety lies squarely with the administration.

“Even if there are political games being played, it is the government’s duty to control the situation. Sadly, they are failing.”

This marks the second time in nine days that Paswan has publicly criticized the state government. Earlier, on July 17, he had warned of the rising confidence among criminals in the state, saying, “The morale of criminals is sky-high.”

Public Outrage and Demand for Accountability

The incident has ignited massive public outrage. Social media platforms are flooded with calls for justice and stronger action against the accused. Activists and opposition leaders have demanded the resignation of senior officials and accountability from Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.

Women’s rights groups are also planning protests across Bihar, demanding safer public systems and stricter checks on ambulance services.

Time for Urgent Action, Not Just Promises

This brutal incident is not just a crime—it’s a symptom of a larger governance failure in Bihar. The question many are asking now is: How safe are women in public spaces—even in state-monitored environments like recruitment exams or medical emergencies?

The onus is now on the Bihar government to take immediate corrective measures, restore public trust, and ensure that such horrific violations never happen again.
