Satara, Maharashtra – In a shocking incident that highlights the growing menace of stalking and toxic rejection, an 18-year-old boy Aryan Waghmale allegedly attacked a Class X girl with a knife in the Basappa Peth Karanje area of Satara. The accused, identified as Aryan Waghmale, was arrested on the spot after local bystanders and off-duty police officers intervened and rescued the girl.
One-Sided Love Turns Dangerous
According to police officials from Shahupuri Police Station, Aryan Waghmale had been stalking the 15-year-old schoolgirl for several months. Despite the girl breaking all communication with him in January this year, Aryan continued to follow her regularly.
On the afternoon of July 15, around 3:30 PM, Aryan reportedly confronted the girl while she was walking home from school. Armed with a knife, he allegedly threatened her and tried to keep onlookers at bay by brandishing the weapon.
Bystanders and a Doctor Step In
Eyewitnesses say panic broke out as Aryan lunged toward the girl. However, several courageous bystanders quickly jumped into action. Among them were two off-duty police personnel who happened to be in the area. They attempted to neutralize the situation but struggled as Aryan aggressively waved the knife.
It was at this critical moment that a local doctor, whose identity remains undisclosed, took the accused by surprise. He overpowered Aryan from behind, allowing the others to rescue the girl. The crowd, enraged by the brutal attack, then caught hold of Aryan and physically subdued him until uniformed police officers arrived.
Injuries and Medical Attention
The minor girl sustained a cut on her hand, while one local who attempted to help also suffered an injury. Both were immediately taken to a nearby hospital and are said to be in stable condition, according to Inspector SG Mhetre of Shahupuri Police Station.
Aryan Waghmale was arrested on charges including attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, and possessing a weapon without license. Police confirmed that both the accused and the victim live in the same locality, adding another disturbing layer to the case.
