Chrome’s latest performance stats were revealed in benchmark tests conducted on a MacBook Pro with Apple’s latest M4 chip, running macOS 15. In these tests, Chrome 137 (Stable) scored 51.43, Chrome 138 (Beta) reached 51.83, and Chrome 139 (Dev) topped out at 52.35—marking the best results in the history of the benchmark.

The key to this performance spike lies in targeted refinements. Google’s developers focused on optimising core rendering paths, improving garbage collection efficiency, and reallocating computational power toward performance-heavy functions. These changes were guided by detailed profiling of how Chrome interacts with Speedometer 3’s test scenarios, allowing engineers to optimise high-impact areas without compromising reliability.

Despite other browsers like Microsoft Edge, Opera, and Vivaldi also using the Blink engine developed by Google, Chrome continues to maintain a performance lead due to Google’s intensive tuning and in-depth benchmarking. While the Speedometer 3.1 standard is now officially recognized as the go-to benchmark, Chrome’s detailed score on the latest version hasn’t yet been disclosed, hinting at more updates to come.
