Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh – In a deeply distressing incident that has shaken the region, a 23-year-old woman, identified as Amreen Jahan, died by suicide in Moradabad just four months after her love marriage. The young woman captured the tragic act on her mobile phone, leaving behind a powerful video message in which she accused her husband and in-laws of mental harassment.

According to reports, Amreen was living with her husband Junaid’s family in Moradabad, while he worked as a welder in Bengaluru. The couple had married against the odds just a few months ago, but their union soon turned bitter following a miscarriage.
Shocking Allegations in Final Video
In the heart-wrenching video that surfaced after her death, Amreen Jahan revealed the constant mental and emotional torture she faced at the hands of her in-laws. She claimed that her father-in-law Shahid and sister-in-law Khatija were the primary reasons behind her decision to end her life. Her husband, Junaid, was also accused of not supporting her and instead siding with his family.
“Sometimes they mock the way I eat, sometimes they disconnect the electricity in my room. My husband never tries to understand me and always blames me. His sister and father constantly poison his mind against me,” Amreen stated emotionally in the video.
Asked to Die, Humiliated Over Medical Expenses
One of the most disturbing aspects of Amreen’s video was her claim that she was repeatedly told to end her life.
“My husband asks, ‘Why don’t you just die?’ His sister and father say the same,” she said.
She further alleged that her in-laws made her feel like a burden, especially after her miscarriage. They reportedly told her they regretted paying for her medical treatment and even demanded she return the money.
“If my husband had so much money, why would he have borrowed from others? How can I repay anything when I have nothing?” Amreen questioned.
Amreen’s Family Seeks Justice
Amreen’s father, Salim, has filed a formal police complaint against Junaid and his family. He is demanding a thorough investigation and strict action against those responsible for pushing his daughter to take such a drastic step.
The Moradabad Police have acknowledged receiving the complaint and stated that an investigation is underway. The forensic team has also taken possession of the mobile phone that contains the suicide video.
Community in Shock
The local community is in disbelief over the tragic incident. Neighbours describe Amreen as a quiet and polite young woman who had high hopes for her married life.
This heart-wrenching case sheds light on the harsh realities faced by many women in the aftermath of marital and familial conflict, especially when they are far from emotional support systems.
As the investigation continues, Amreen’s last words echo in the hearts of many:
“I don’t know what will happen after I die, but at least I’ll be at peace.”
This tragic case is yet another reminder of the importance of mental health support, family counselling, and strict action against domestic harassment. The authorities must ensure justice is served and take proactive measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
