Robert Vadra Appears Before ED in Shikohpur Land Deal Case, Alleges ‘Political Witch-Hunt’

Shikohpur Land Deal Case: — Businessman Robert Vadra, the brother-in-law of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday in connection with a money laundering case linked to a controversial Shikohpur Land Deal Case, Haryana. The questioning follows a second summons issued by the federal agency after Vadra failed to appear on April 8.

Robert Vadra money laundering case: The probe, which centers around Robert Vadra’s company Skylight Hospitality, relates to a 2008 land transaction in which the firm purchased a 3.5-acre plot in Shikohpur, Gurugram, from Onkareshwar Properties for ₹7.5 crore. It is alleged that the land was later sold to DLF, a prominent real estate developer, for ₹58 crore — raising suspicions of financial irregularities and potential money laundering.

According to sources within the agency, Vadra has been called in to explain the source of funds used in the deal and the massive profit margins earned within a short span. His statement will be recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

Robert Vadra Denies Wrongdoing, Slams BJP

Addressing the media outside the ED office, Vadra termed the investigation a “political witch-hunt” and accused the BJP of misusing investigative agencies to target opposition voices.

“Whenever I speak up for the people or raise uncomfortable questions, they try to suppress me. This is nothing but a misuse of power,” Vadra said. “In the last 20 years, not a single allegation against me has been proven. We’re ready to face everything.”

Vadra’s wife, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, currently represents Wayanad in the Lok Sabha after Rahul Gandhi opted to retain his seat from Rae Bareli in the recent general elections.

Political Battlelines Sharpen

The Congress party has repeatedly claimed that investigations against Vadra are politically motivated, especially when elections or key parliamentary sessions are underway. The BJP, however, maintains that law enforcement agencies are only doing their job and that no one is above scrutiny.

This isn’t the first time Vadra has faced questioning by the ED. He has previously been grilled in connection with other land deals in Rajasthan and Bikaner.

With the 2025 political climate heating up, Tuesday’s developments are expected to further intensify the Centre vs Opposition narrative, with both sides doubling down on their respective claims of injustice and accountability.
