Security Measures Increased for Vasant Panchami Amrit Snan at Mahakumbh

The much-awaited Vasant Panchami Amrit Snan is scheduled to take place on Monday at the MahaKumbh. Anticipating a huge crowd, the administration has made special plans to organize traffic and avoid overcrowding in key areas. As per the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, new officers have been given responsibilities and police deployment has been reshuffled for a smooth and safe event.

Security Preparations for Vasant Panchami Amrit Snan

The administration has redeployed companies of CAPF and PAC deployed in the area, as well as gazetted police officers to improve security. Barriers and barricading have been strengthened at all important places and strategic signs have been put up at all places that will effectively guide the pilgrims. The ICCC has increased the number of alert messages to keep the crowd informed. Besides, additional police force has been deployed in sensitive areas to avoid any untoward incident.

Under the new security arrangements, seven companies of CAPF from the Akhara area will be shifted to more required places. Three companies will be deployed in South Jhunsi, two in North Jhunsi, two platoons at Shastri Bridge and additional platoons at Kali Ramp and Upper Sangam Road. Additional CAPF will be deployed in the highly important Sangam area, with six additional companies deployed in two shifts to cover round-the-clock security arrangements. Women CRPF personnel will also be deployed to achieve effective crowd management.

Senior police officers will also be deployed at key points to ensure an efficient mix of experience and energy. Four officers of the rank of Superintendent of Police (SP) and three Additional Superintendents of Police (ASPs) will be on duty. These officers will provide guidance and ensure prompt action in case of emergency.

A total of 12 barriers and barricading points have been strengthened in the Kumbh Mela area. These include key locations such as Kali Marg, Triveni Marg, Nagvasuki Ramp, Ganga Murti Tiraha, GT Jawahar Junction and Kila Chauraha. Entry and exit routes of the Akhara and all pontoon bridges, as well as major roads such as Old GT Road, Lower Sangam Road and Mukti Marg, have also been strengthened.

The administration has identified 11 vulnerable spots, where additional police force has been deployed. These include Tikramafi, Ganga Murti Chauraha, Nagvasuki Ramp, Kali Ramp, Upper Sangam Road, GT Jawahar Chauraha, Jhunsi to Parade pontoon bridge and major roads like Jagdish Marg, Mahavir Marg, Akshayvat Marg and Triveni Marg. In total, 37 QRTs and a PAC company have been kept ready for action in case of an emergency.

To help pilgrims navigate and move forward, more digital signage has been installed on exit routes so that it can be easily seen. The VMDs will provide real-time information on open and closed pontoon bridges, and the ICCC will increase the frequency of alert messages to effectively manage crowd movement and safety. Taking all stringent measures for security and management, the administration hopes for a safe, disciplined and spiritually enriching experience for all devotees visiting the Maha Kumbh with the Vasant Panchami Amrit Snan.
