Delhi Traffic Advisory Issued Ahead of Republic Day Full Dress Rehearsal

New Delhi: Ahead of the full dress rehearsal of the Republic Day parade, the Delhi Traffic Police issued an advisory listing route restrictions and alternative pathways for smooth conduct of the event. The rehearsal will take place on Thursday, January 23, at 10:30 AM, starting from Vijay Chowk and ending at the Red Fort.

The march route will go ahead through Vijay Chowk, Kartavyapath, C-Hexagon, the statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, Tilak Marg, Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, and then Netaji Subhas Marg. The vehicular traffic will be obstructed from time to time through this road when the practice take place, while the common workers or daily going people need not avoid routes as they require using these but increase their travelling times.

Traffic will be restricted on Kartavyapath (from Vijay Chowk to India Gate) starting from 6 PM on January 22 until the rehearsal concludes. Rafi Marg, Janpath, and Man Singh Road (towards Kartavyapath) will be closed from 11 PM on January 22 until the rehearsal concludes. Traffic from Kartavyapath towards C-Hexagon-India Gate will be restricted from 9:15 AM on January 23 until the parade concludes. Traffic diversions will be implemented as per the movement of the parade.

Commuters can use the following alternative routes. For the North-South Corridor, recommended routes include Ring Road, Ashram Chowk, Sarai Kale Khan, I.P. Flyover, Raj Ghat, Arvindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, Vande Mataram Marg, Shankar Road, Park Street, or Mandir Marg. For the East-West Corridor, suggested routes are Ring Road, Bhairon Road, Mathura Road, Lodhi Road, Arvindo Marg, AIIMS Chowk, Dhaula Kuan, Vande Mataram Marg, Shankar Road, Park Street, or Mandir Marg.

Commuters traveling from South Delhi can take Dhaula Kuan, Vande Mataram Marg, Panchkuian Road, Outer Circle Connaught Place, Chelmsford Road towards Paharganj, or Minto Road, Bhavbhuti Marg towards Ajmeri Gate. Those traveling from East Delhi can reach New Delhi Railway Station via ISBT Bridge, Boulevard Road, Rani Jhansi Flyover, Jhandewalan, DB Gupta Road, Sheela Cinema Road, and Paharganj Bridge.

Residents and visitors are urged to plan their routes accordingly to avoid inconvenience. Public transport users are advised to check for updates and follow directions from traffic personnel on duty. The Delhi Traffic Police will deploy additional personnel to manage traffic flow and assist commuters.
