His prompt response significantly contributed to controlling the situation effectively.
The incident occurred at around 4 PM in Sector 19, engulfing parts of Shri Karpatra Dham and Geeta Press camps. CM Adityanath visited the site, assessed the situation, and instructed officials to ensure a swift resolution. Even after leaving the site, he remained updated on the progress of relief efforts.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also called Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to enquire about the incident. Chief Minister Adityanath updated him on the situation and said that teams of the fire brigade, NDRF, and SDRF have been able to control the fire in a timely manner. There were no casualties reported.
**Rapid Response by the Authorities
ADG Bhanu Bhaskar said that some tents caught fire, but they were quickly put out. District Magistrate Ravindra Kumar Mandar said that the administration reacted very fast when they got information about the fire. Modern fire fighting equipment was used to douse the flames.
The reported cause of the fire is due to a gas cylinder leakage that destroyed more than 300 cottages. The cause of the fire will be probed by Magistrate Shivendra Kumar Verma along with an estimate of damage.
**Rigorous Action to be taken to Prevent Recurrence in the Future
Prevention of the illegal storage of gas cylinders in the area has been of utmost importance to Mela Officer Vijay Kiran Anand. He noted that many camps were found using unauthorized five-liter cylinders, posing significant risks. Investigations into this issue are ongoing, with orders to ensure no unauthorized cylinders are kept.
The administration is appreciated for showing a quick response and CM Adityanath’s proactive leadership in bringing any potential disastrous situation under control, without any human loss.
