Gorakhpur Link Expressway: 91 Km Stretch to Open for Commuters on New Year's Day 2025

Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh: One of the most awaited expressways in Uttar Pradesh is set to open for public use in January 2025, when the 91.35-kilometre controlled-access highway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, is completed. The expressway connects NH-27 near Jaitpur village in Gorakhpur to Salarpur in Azamgarh, where it seamlessly links with the Purvanchal Expressway. This strategic connection will provide an uninterrupted route to Lucknow, Agra, and Delhi, significantly enhancing regional connectivity.

A Mega Infrastructure Boost

Built at a cost of ₹7,283.28 crore, Gorakhpur Link Expressway is nearing completion as 98 percent of construction work is finalized. Out of the 343 planned structures along the expressway, 337 are already completed, and others are moving at a lightning speed. The construction entails advanced soil work and other key infrastructure components that promise durability and efficiency.

Once in operation, the Purvanchal Expressway will reduce travel time between Gorakhpur and Lucknow to only 3.5 hours, changing the landscape of road transport efficiency across the state.

Economic Benefits and Industrial Growth

The expressway is well-positioned to bring about transformative economic benefits to the districts it passes through: Gorakhpur, Ambedkarnagar, Sant Kabir Nagar, and Azamgarh. It will likely strengthen industrial, agricultural, and tourism development in the regions.

According to its objective of promoting economic activities, the government is also establishing industrial corridors along both sides of the expressway. These corridors aim to connect agricultural zones, production units, and development centres with the national capital, further promoting economic growth and employment opportunities.

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway will guarantee faster, more efficient traveling while saving fuel and causing less environmental pollution. That is in line with the government’s overall policy goals of sustainability and infrastructure modernization. Second, the expressway is likely to make Gorakhpur a prominent transportation hub, thus boosting the strategic significance of the city of Uttar Pradesh.

A New Year’s Gift to the Region

With full operational facilities in place, the Gorakhpur Link Expressway is set to open in January 2025, serving as a New Year’s gift to the people of Uttar Pradesh. This project underscores the state’s commitment to advancing infrastructure, promoting regional development, and improving the quality of life for its citizens.

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway is more than just a road; it is a gateway to economic prosperity and enhanced connectivity, reflecting a brighter future for the region.
