In a terrible mishap in the city of Punjab’s Bathinda, eight individuals lost their lives, while many more were injured, after a private bus went into a drain. It happened when the bus was en route from Talwandi Sabo to Bathinda.
According to Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal, the injured were taken to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The accident reportedly occurred during heavy rainfall, which may have contributed to the mishap. The police and district authorities quickly launched a rescue operation with help from locals who pulled passengers from the submerged bus.
Bathinda Urban MLA Jagroop Singh Gill stated that five passengers died on the spot, while three succumbed to their injuries during treatment. Authorities are still working to confirm the identities of the deceased, and the exact number of passengers on board at the time of the accident is being investigated.
A comprehensive inquiry has been launched to find out the reason behind the accident, which officials suspect to be slippery roads and poor visibility due to rain.
Another Tragic Accident in Uttar Pradesh
Three labourers were killed in a different accident in Uttar Pradesh’s Hathras district, when three labourers were run over by a speeding dumper. The accident took place near Matar Plant in Sikandra Rau area near Muglagarhi.
Eyewitnesses said the dumper was moving at a very high speed and could not notice pedestrians walking on the roadside. Two workers died on the spot, and the third one died of his injuries in the hospital.
Doctors confirmed that the two victims died instantly, while the third died shortly after being admitted. The authorities are investigating the incident, and the locals have raised concerns over reckless driving in the area.
Both accidents clearly show the need for stringent traffic regulations and better road safety measures to prevent such devastating losses.
