Jaipur Truck Fire tragedy: In a gruesome incident on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway, a deadly explosion triggered by a collision between a CNG tanker and a truck killed at least 14 people and left several others injured. The driver of the tanker, identified as Jaiveer from Mathura, miraculously survived the explosion, which occurred early on Friday morning.
As stated by the policeman participating in the investigation, Manish Kumar, Jaiveer had dived from the tanker right after the accident. According to sources, he was able to reach Anil Panwar in Delhi and called him about the accident. After informing the man of the accident, Jaiveer reportedly turned off his cell phone. SIT is investigating the accident, and the investigation will soon cross-question Jaiveer in detail regarding what exactly led to the deadly explosion.
How the Accident Happened
The tragic accident occurred around 5:30 AM when a Bharat Petroleum tanker, on its way from Ajmer to Jaipur, attempted a U-turn on a stretch of road notorious for accidents. As the tanker made the turn, it collided with a truck coming from the Jaipur side. The impact of the crash caused a massive fire, quickly engulfing several nearby vehicles. Many people who had abandoned their vehicles in panic were able to escape, but several others, unfortunately, suffered injuries, with some succumbing to burns.
Possible Causes of the Accident
Experts believe that the accident could have resulted from a combination of the poor road conditions, the sharp turn, and the lack of proper management of traffic. The part of the Jaipur-Ajmer highway where this accident took place is notorious for frequent accidents. The road construction in this area would have added to the problem. Road safety experts were of the opinion that the poor traffic sense of the parties involved could have worsened the collision.
Government Response and Condolences
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to the families of the victims through a post on X, stating, “Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is helping the affected ones. The PM also announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh for the family members of the dead and Rs. 50,000 for the injured persons in the accident.
The SIT is still investigating the case, and with further questioning of the driver and analysis of the scene, it is hoped that the authorities will find out the cause of this tragic event. Local authorities continue to assist the victims and their families as the community comes to terms with the destruction caused by the explosion.
The Jaipur fire tragedy is a grim reminder of the hazards posed by the ill-maintained roads, lack of traffic management, and lack of safety measures. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation, but the incident has left a deep mark on the local community, calling for better infrastructure and stricter traffic regulations. The survival of the tanker driver, Jaiveer, is a rare stroke of luck in the face of a devastating disaster.
