In a fresh controversy brewing in Maharashtra, allegations linking NCP-SCP MP Supriya Sule to a cryptocurrency fraud have set the political landscape abuzz. Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and BJP leaders have weighed in on the matter, calling for an in-depth investigation to uncover the truth.
Allegations and Denial
The controversy erupted when former IPS officer Ravindranath Patil accused Sule and Maharashtra Congress President Nana Patole of misusing bitcoins recovered from a 2018 cryptocurrency scam. Patil claimed these funds were allegedly funneled to finance the upcoming Maharashtra Assembly elections. He released audio clips purportedly featuring Sule’s voice as evidence.
Reacting to these allegations, Supriya Sule categorically denied any wrongdoing. Speaking to ANI, she expressed her readiness to address BJP MP Sudhanshu Trivedi’s five questions, saying,
“I am ready to answer his questions anytime, anywhere, and on any platform. All the allegations are completely false.”
Trivedi, in a press conference, raised five pointed questions targeting Congress and its allies, questioning their alleged involvement in bitcoin transactions, connections with certain individuals, and the authenticity of the audio clips.

“Allegations of this nature should be thoroughly investigated. Technology like AI can confirm if the voices are genuine or doctored. The truth must emerge at the earliest.”
Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, Sule’s brother, also weighed in. While acknowledging the similarity in voice tones, he emphasized the importance of a formal inquiry to clarify the situation.
“I recognize the voices, but we need an investigation to ascertain the facts,” he stated.
Political Implications
The BJP has sharpened its attack on the opposition, calling the allegations a critical issue of governance and ethics. Meanwhile, Sule’s denial and her willingness to cooperate have raised questions about whether these claims are politically motivated ahead of the crucial 2024 Maharashtra elections.
Broader Context
This controversy adds to an already charged political environment, with allegations of corruption, misuse of power, and cash-for-vote schemes dominating headlines. The involvement of high-profile leaders and the sensitive nature of cryptocurrency fraud underscore the potential impact on public trust.
What Lies Ahead
As the matter unfolds, the demand for an impartial and swift investigation grows louder. Experts suggest that the use of advanced forensic technology, including AI, could play a pivotal role in determining the authenticity of the audio clips.
While the allegations remain unproven, the political ramifications are undeniable. With Supriya Sule and other leaders under scrutiny, the spotlight is now on Maharashtra’s investigating agencies to deliver a transparent outcome.
