Historical Weapons Unearthed in Dhakia Tiwari: In an unexpected turn of events, historical weapons were discovered on Wednesday in the Dhakia Tiwari village within the Nigohi police jurisdiction. During plowing work on Baburam’s farmland, a farmer’s spade struck a hard metallic object buried underground. Upon further digging, a cache of ancient weapons surfaced, including 21 swords (each approximately two feet long), 13 guns, daggers, and spears. This unusual discovery quickly caught the attention of local authorities and was reported to the police and local MLA Salona Kushwaha.

Possible Links to the 1857 Uprising

Dr. Vikas Khurana, the head of the history department at SM College and a noted historian in Shahjahanpur, highlighted the historical significance of this find. He explained that Shahjahanpur was a focal point of revolutionary activities during the 1857 Indian Rebellion. Many villages in this region witnessed fierce uprisings against the British. Dr. Khurana believes that these weapons could be remnants from that era, possibly linked to the freedom fighters of the time.

Call for Archaeological Study

According to Dr. Khurana, the region of Shahjahanpur is rich in archaeological heritage. Historical records indicate that A.A. Fuhrer, the first archaeological director of the United Provinces, identified several sites in the area as historically significant. Recent findings of ancient weaponry from the Mahabharata era in nearby regions have raised hopes that these relics might reveal similar secrets. The historian suspects that these weapons may have belonged to a long-lost settlement or barrack and has petitioned the district magistrate to facilitate a formal investigation by the Archaeological Department.

Dr. Khurana emphasized that examining the weapons’ age and historical context could provide invaluable insights. He noted that such relics might date back thousands of years, potentially adding a new dimension to India’s historical narrative. Rust on the swords, he added, is a natural phenomenon caused by exposure to air and water, and a proper study would help historians better understand the region’s past.

Curiosity Among Locals

The discovery has stirred excitement in the village, with residents gathering in large numbers to catch a glimpse of the relics. Villagers are engaging in lively discussions, speculating about untold stories linked to Shahjahanpur’s history that might now come to light. The Archaeological Department has taken note of the case and is expected to begin an in-depth analysis of the weapons soon.
