New Delhi: Ahead of the Republic Day celebrations, the Delhi Police has announced an extensive security plan to ensure a safe and incident-free event. Over 70 Paramilitary companies of paramilitary forces and more than 15,000 police personnel will be deployed across the capital, particularly in the New Delhi, North, and Central districts.
As part of the elaborate security measures, some 4,000 rooftop security points have been identified to provide a strategic vantage for monitoring. Drones and CCTV cameras with advanced technology, including Facial Recognition Systems (FRS), will also keep the city under watchful eyes, according to a senior police officer on Friday.
“We have installed multi-layered security arrangements, including six levels of checking and frisking. Besides, we have set up multi-layered barricading to ensure no breach of security,” the officer stated.
There will also be cyber-specialist officers deployed to watch online threats and suspicious activities during the event. Thousands of CCTV cameras have been installed in sensitive areas, especially in the New Delhi district to enhance surveillance and guarantee public safety.
The Republic Day parade, with participation from dignitaries, armed forces, and cultural contingents from all over the country, is a high-profile event that demands stringent security. The multi-tiered security measures reflect the authorities’ commitment to safeguarding the celebration amid heightened security concerns.
The police have already appealed to all citizens to exercise vigilance, cooperate with the security personnel if they are called for checking and frisking, as elaborate arrangements ensure a smooth and peaceful Republic Day is celebrated by everybody.
