YouTuber Prasad Behera arrest: In a shocking incident, 38-year-old YouTuber Prasad Behera was arrested on Wednesday in Hyderabad for alleged sexual harassment of his co-star, who is a 32-year-old, during the shoot of a web series. The case was filed at Jubilee Hills Police Station, leading to immediate action against the culprit. Behera has been sent to police custody for 14 days.
Prasad Behera arrest and Allegations
The victim, who appeared in several web series with Prasad Behera, accused him of misbehaving and harassing her on multiple occasions during their interaction on set. According to her complaint, the harassment began from the first meeting she had with him on the project, and it gradually worsened with time. Despite her complaints, the accused allegedly continued his inappropriate behavior.
The situation took a turn for the worse on December 11, when Behera allegedly assaulted the woman as she was returning home from a shoot. This incident forced her to seek help from the police. After her complaint, the police filed cases against Prasad Behera under various legal sections, including 75(2), 79, and 351(2)BNS. He was produced in court and subsequently sent to remand.
The Accused and His Career
Prasad Behera is famous for his acting in popular web series like Ma Varamundu, Pelli Varamundi, and Mechanic. Recently, he shot to fame with the film Committee Kurraallu. Both of them worked for the same YouTube channel. Their professional bonding turned into a nightmare for the woman as she was allegedly harassed by Behera.
Another YouTuber Arrested for Public Nuisance
In an unrelated incident, another Hyderabad-based YouTuber, Bhanuchander alias Anchor Chandu, was arrested for causing chaos on the city’s Outer Ring Road (ORR). The 30-year-old gained attention after throwing bundles of ₹200 notes from a moving vehicle, inviting the public to collect them. The stunt, captured on video and circulated widely, led to a traffic jam and raised safety concerns.
The ORR patrolling team acted swiftly and caught the culprit. Chandu was booked under several sections, including the National Highway Act.
Police Show Zero Tolerance
These two incidents in a row of YouTubers have raised concerns about the wrong use of influence and their platforms. The Hyderabad Police said they were committed to maintaining law and order in the city and appealed to the people to report any such abuse of influence or platform to the police without delay.
Both cases demonstrate the need for accountability in digital content creators and protect public safety and individual rights.
