The post also alleged that the woman, who is now in rehab, was exploited over a long period under the guise of industry norms involving drugs, manipulation, and transactional sex.

In an interview with Deccan Chronicle, Vijay Sethupathi dismissed the allegations as baseless and attention-seeking. “Anyone who knows me even remotely will laugh at this. I know myself too well. This kind of filthy accusation can’t upset me,” the actor said.
However, he admitted that the episode has disturbed his family and close friends. “My family is upset. But I’ve told them to let it slide. This woman is obviously doing it to be noticed. Let her have her few minutes of fame,” he added calmly.
Legal Steps Taken: Complaint Filed with Cybercrime
Sethupathi has confirmed that he has taken legal action. “We’ve complained to cybercrime. I’ve faced all kinds of whispering campaigns for seven years. Such targeting has not affected me so far. It never will,” he asserted.
He also pointed out the suspicious timing of the accusations, coinciding with the successful release of his new film, Thalaivan Thalaivii. “Probably, some jealous elements think that by tarnishing me, they can damage my film. But it doesn’t work that way,” the actor said confidently.

Vijay Sethupathi also commented on the unchecked freedom social media users often exercise. “In today’s day and age, anyone can say anything about anybody. There are no filters. All you need is an account on social media, and you can write what you like without fear of repercussion,” he remarked, echoing the growing concern about misuse of online platforms.
