In a stark example of how in the pursuit of online fame, sometimes one can behave very irresponsibly, two Delhi-based influencers, Varun Yadav and Aarush Bhola, have landed themselves in the crosshairs of criticism from the internet populace. The scandalous video featuring the duo playing loud music on a flight has gone viral and created an outrage among netizens who labelled them uncivilized and disruptive.
The incident reportedly happened at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport. Influencers, seemingly unperturbed by other passengers around them, were heard playing music from a Bluetooth speaker mid-flight and recording the annoyed reactions of fellow passengers. The video, captioned “Hawa meh bhi badmashi“ (Mischief in the air), was posted on social media and racked up more than 15.1 million views in a matter of hours.
The viral video sparked a lot of criticism, with many labeling the behavior as inconsiderate and a growing trend of normalizing public nuisance. Several users took to the comment section to express their disapproval.
- One user commented, “Be decent in public places. Ensure that you do not disturb anyone at all.”
- Another user added, “Uncivilized behavior is being normalized these days.”
- A snarky comment said, “Public nuisance is not content. Be better. I hope @spicejetairlines humbled such people because the caption shouts there will be more.”
Other comments related this incident to the falling sense of civic awareness and how obsessed the people are with seeking online validation.
While some found the antics of the influencers distasteful, others demanded that the airlines strictly enforce the rules on flights to avoid such incidents. Many demanded that the airlines take necessary steps to discourage such behavior in the future.
The viral video has reignited debates about growing social media presence and why influencers need to set better examples. As people continue to unpack the conversation in the public spheres, it recalls the importance of decorum generally, especially in shared spaces like flights.
No word from the duo regarding the backlash yet. However, the netizens keep demanding stiffer consequences for such behavior, as well as responsibility in using social media platforms by the influencers.
