Uttarakhand Earthquake Today: Mild Tremors of 3.5 Magnitude Create Damage in Uttarkashi, No Injuries Recorded

Uttarkashi, Uttarakhand: People in Uttarkashi woke up to a shock early Friday morning as an earthquake measuring 3.5 hit the region. The tremors came at around 7:42 AM, which made people run out of their homes in a panic. There have been no reports of any injuries or property damage so far.

The authorities have issued alerts, advising residents to stay indoors and avoid risky places. It is the second earthquake within the past few months to strike the region, causing widespread anxiety among its people, as they believe this region is more prone to earthquakes.

The stone falls at Varunavat Mountain are added to the fear, since they occurred while tremors took place. It is notorious for landslide and requires increased vigilance around the region.

The officials are inspecting the damages to check for any structural issues. The tremors have however reminded people of the 1991 Uttarkashi earthquake which had a 6.6 magnitude and wreaked havoc. It had destroyed everything in its path and taken hundreds of lives.

Over 70 minor aftershocks in Uttarkashi have occurred since the tragedy of 1991 as a reminder that it lies in a seismically active zone. Authorities continue to call for enhanced preparedness and advise citizens to adhere to safety protocols in case of such incidents.

Citizens are asked to remain vigilant, to avoid danger sites, where landslides may have occurred, and keep safety kits at a readiness for further tremors that will take place.
