Umar Ansari Arrested in Lucknow Over Forgery Allegations

The arrest was made after authorities discovered fake documents allegedly created by Umar in connection with seized property.

According to ANI, citing senior police officials, Umar forged legal documents by using a fake signature of his mother, Afsa Ansari, who is herself a wanted figure with a ₹50,000 reward on her head.

Forgery Linked to Seized Property and Mother’s Signature

The case was registered at the Mohammadabad Police Station in Ghazipur district. Speaking to the media, the Superintendent of Police, Ghazipur, revealed that Umar Ansari had allegedly prepared fake documentation to claim ownership of confiscated property. The forged papers included Afsa Ansari’s signature, making the offense even more serious.

“Upon learning of the fraudulent activity, a case was registered against Umar Ansari at the Mohammadabad Police Station under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further legal proceedings are underway,” the police said in an official statement.

Legal Trouble Deepens for the Ansari Family

The arrest of Umar Ansari adds another chapter to the long list of legal issues faced by the Ansari family. His elder brother, Abbas Ansari, a sitting MLA from Mau Sadar, was disqualified from the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly in June 2025 following his conviction in a hate speech case.

Abbas was sentenced to two years in prison for a 2022 public address in which he threatened local administrative officials. The speech, delivered at Paharpur Ground on March 3, 2022, included direct threats to “settle scores” after the elections, leading to his disqualification by the state assembly.

Mukhtar Ansari’s Criminal Legacy and Death

Mukhtar Ansari, who passed away on March 28, 2024, due to cardiac arrest at Banda Medical College Hospital, was a notorious figure in Uttar Pradesh politics and crime. Once a five-time MLA from Mau, Mukhtar had been convicted multiple times.

In April 2023, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the murder of BJP MLA Krishnanand Rai. Later, in March 2024, he received life imprisonment for using forged documents to obtain an arms licence in 1990.

Ongoing Investigations and Future Implications

Umar Ansari’s arrest underlines the continued scrutiny on the Ansari family even after Mukhtar’s death. The police have assured that investigations are active, and more details may emerge as the case progresses.

The use of forged signatures and attempts to reclaim government-seized assets suggests a deeper conspiracy that law enforcement agencies are now unraveling. With both sons of Mukhtar Ansari now embroiled in criminal cases, the political influence of the family appears to be rapidly diminishing.

The arrest of Umar Ansari for forging property documents marks yet another setback for the infamous Ansari dynasty. As the Uttar Pradesh police continue their probe, the future appears uncertain for a family long entangled in the intersection of crime and politics.
